The Archdiocese of Washington (ADW) requires anyone who works with children in any way to be in compliance with all Child Protection Requirements.  If all requirements are not met, you cannot serve with any ministry involving children.

You are a valuable part of our Parish, and we hope to have everyone continue to support ministries such as School of Religion, the Parochial School, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and Youth Ministry.

The requirements for Child Protection Compliance are found on the ADW Child Protection Compliance Checklist.

All training components are provided at no charge with the exception of fingerprinting. Rather than lose valuable volunteers, if paying the charge for fingerprinting yourself presents you and your family with financial hardship, please present the receipt to the Parish Office for reimbursement. Reimbursements will be issued within 10–14 days of receipt.

• Register for Virtus.  During the registration process, you will be asked to register for a training session. Some important things to remember:
  • Please use your full legal name as it appears on your government documents.
  • All of your Child Protection compliance status information is available at Virtus. 
  • Each person has his or her own individual login information.
  • Please click on need log-in information if you do not remember yours.
  • If you are registering for the first time, please click on First Time Registrant on the left side of the screen.
    • For Archdiocese/Diocese/Religious Organization, choose Washington, D.C. (Archdiocese).
    • For location, please choose Saint Peter's (207).

• ADW Child Protection Policy The policy will be provided to you and reviewed during your training.  All new volunteers and current volunteers who took his or her training prior to July of 2019 are required to read the current policy and sign the Policy Acknowledgement and return it to the Parish Office.

• Fingerprinting:
  • If you have never been fingerprinted for Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection purposes, you must be fingerprinted. Fingerprinting results through other organizations are not available to ADW.
  • ADW-Approved Fingerprinting Service Providers  Choose a provider from this list and schedule an appointment with them.
  • The Live Scan Pre-Fingerprinting Application must be completed prior to fingerprinting as instructed by the fingerprinting service provider. Some may ask that the form be completed online. Some may ask you to bring the completed form with you. The linked form above is completed with all of the necessary information. This form must be presented or the results will not be sent to the Archdiocese of Washington and will be inaccessible. It is very important that the fingerprinting vendor utilizes the coding at the bottom of this form to submit your fingerprints.
  • You will also need to bring a photo id with you.
  • If paying the charge for fingerprinting yourself presents you and your family with financial hardship, please present the receipt to the Parish Office for reimbursement. Reimbursements will be issued within 10–14 days of receipt.
