Parish Groups
Magnificat
Saint Peter's Parish Women's Group
We gather to know, love, and serve God in the Eucharist, Marian devotion, prayer, ongoing faith formation, faith-sharing, service, and sisterly fellowship.
We meet monthly at various times and settings to enhance the participation of all the women of our parish. For more information, please contact Elizabeth Wright at 301-351-9945 or e-mail her at rightliz@aol.com.
The following are a few personal quotes from women who have attended Magnificat functions:
"I love Magnificat! I never go away from our gatherings not having been refreshed, supported, and especially blessed. Mary is in our midst. I feel her presence. I enjoy our small group sessions, and visits in the homes are also fun."
"I like the widespread age range of the members. It is enriching to experience all ages. Small group sharing is a great way to get to know people."
"Good discussion and community. I enjoy meeting people I see in passing or at Mass."

Canticle of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
The Almighty has done great things for me,
And holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever. Amen.
God Bless You!
Saint Peter's Prayer Group
Come join us and worship through song and praise, glorifying God. Prayer Group meets every Wednesday evening from 8-9:30 p.m., in the Divine Mercy Room (the East Meeting Room) of the church. All are most welcome.
The prayer meeting is filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit and overflows with the love of God. After an opening prayer and hymns of praise, the evening then includes Prophecy and Scripture, spiritual sharing, witnessing of miracles, and prayer requests for healing. At its essence, Prayer Group is worship guided by the Holy Spirit.
Once a year, Prayer Group sponsors a Life in the Spirit Seminar, a seven-week series leading participants to a richer relationship with their Lord. Participants often experience an increase in the Pentecostal gifts of the Spirit.
If you hunger for a deeper intimacy with Our Lord, discover his abundant blessings and love available simply for the asking. Bring your needs, great or small, to the next Saint Peter's prayer meeting.
Life in the Spirit Seminar
Life in the Spirit Seminar is a widely-used, seven-week course, which has led thousands of Christians to be Baptized in the Spirit and to find a richer expression and deepening of their spiritual lives. Once a year, usually in the spring, Saint Peter's Prayer Group sponsors a Life in the Spirit Seminar, which presents the central truths of the Gospel: God's love for man, the salvation he offers in Jesus Christ, and his invitation to receive New Life. It explains how a person can be Baptized in the Spirit and receive a full experience of the Power and Gifts of the Spirit.
What are the effects?
- A deepening awareness of the presence and love of God
- A growth of intimacy with God in prayer
- A hunger for God's Word and the Sacraments
- A love of the Church
- A new power and desire to witness
- A growth in the Fruits of the Spirit
- Manifestations of charismatic gifts
- An experience of the promptings of the Holy Spirit
For information on the next scheduled seminar, please contact Fred Abel at 301-924-3697.
Sons of Saint Peter Men's Group
The Sons of Saint Peter Men's Group meets every month at 7 p.m. to celebrate Mass with one another and to share the faith experience with men who are fellow parishioners. The purpose of the Sons of Saint Peter is to provide men with the opportunity to pray, to enjoy fellowship, to learn about the Catholic faith, and most importantly, to help our families get to heaven! In addition, we perform works of service for the parish. For example, we distribute gifts for the Angel Tree Project, perform clean-up after the Christmas Bazaar, and provide manpower for special events in the parish.
